In Edible News On September 10, 2011 0 Comments

Someone should teach these guys how to cook!

For those who missed the memo last week, July 29 was apparently Eat Marijuana While Getting Arrested Day.

Two men - one in North Carolina and one in Arizona - were arrested on Thursday for pot possession and both tried to eat the evidence.

The only difference? The guy in Arizona happened to be former NBA player Samaki Walker, who was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the No. 9 pick in the 1996 NBA Draft (before Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash).

What Are The Effects?

In Edible Guides On September 9, 2011 0 Comments

If you’ve never consumed cannabis before, you might be curious as to how the high is different when compared to smoking or vaporizing. Most people describe it as a “heavier” or “deeper” high — slow to kick in, slow to wear off, and affecting the body way more than the head. Honestly, though, everyone is different and there is only one way to really understand the difference between smoking and eating: try both yourself (just read this article first).

Cannacooking History

In Edible Guides On September 9, 2011 0 Comments

If you’ve grown up in the United States you may be pretty surprised to find out that the use of marijuana has quite a long and illustrious history when it comes to edibles. Many anti-marijuana “activists” in the US might have you believe that cannabis-use — especially when it comes to things like “pot brownies” and “weed cookies” — is a vice limited to hippies, deadbeats or liberal-arts college kids; yet some of the world’s oldest — and some would argue most successful — cultures have a rich history filled with smoking and cooking cannabis for both medicinal and recreational use. Cannacooking is certainly nothing new.

Sailor Jerry

Stoner Jerry (Sailor Jerry Rum Tincture)

In Tinctures On August 26, 2011 6 Comments

For those of you not in the know,  Sailor Jerry is one of the most delicious spiced rums ever created by mankind. It is rich and spicy with dark cherry undertones. Stoner Jerry is, of course, our tongue-in-cheek take on rum cannabis tinctures. As with any tincture, kief or hash works best if you want to avoid a “green” taste, though buds/nugs/trim/leaves/stems are OK if you must. This method takes quite a while — a month in fact — but is well worth it and far safer for the average stoner as compared to other methods using double boilers and such.

Top 10 Medicated Edibles In Colorado

In Edible News On August 20, 2011 3 Comments

William Breathes’ top 10 list of edibles in Denver. He writes: ”I’m not a big edibles guy — something that stems from my early experiences making brownies using ground-up schwag. The memory of the slightly burned, and entirely gritty, undercooked chocolate mass that put me to sleep still haunts me to this day. And medically, it doesn’t make much sense for me to eat pot food to stop my vomiting and cramps. Eating is the last thing I’m thinking about when I’m doubled over with nausea. But a lot of readers have been asking me to review food, so over the past few months, I’ve made a point to pick up edibles while I’m out. Some have been worthless, but most have opened my eyes to the wide range of ways people are eating their ganja. Below are my top ten medicated foods around Colorado.”
